Ghana's Former National Team Coach and first African to Play in Germany, Charles Gyamfi is Dead


Charles Kumi Gyamfi (1929 – 1 September 2015) was a footballer who was the first African player to play in Germany, when he joined Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1960.
After retiring as a player he became a coach, and career highlights include leading Ghana to the African Cup of Nations three times, making him the most successful coach in ACN history.This record has since been equalled by Egypt's Hassan Shehata.
In January 2008 he publicly lamented the modern obsession of players with money rather than the love of the game.He passed away in September 1st 2015.
